6. Strange Harvest
Strange Harvest was one of last year's viral horror hits, earning buzzy word-of-mouth from festival screenings all the way up to its streaming release.
And this expertly crafted serial killer mockumentary more than lives up to the hype, serving up an uncommonly plausible faux-doc that's probably the subgenre's creepiest offering since Lake Mungo.
But it's also a film heavily contingent on the unknown and a slow-unfurling mystery, so once the cat is out of the bag and you know the surprises, it won't be nearly as fun or scary the second time.
The entire film is a clever magic trick of sorts, and so once you know where it's all going, the allure is gone - even though the reveals themselves are mostly satisfying.
This is all to say, make sure you go into Strange Harvest as blindly as possible to ensure your first and probably only viewing is totally "pure."
