2. Mads
Despite being quietly released on Shudder in early 2024, MadS is a film that absolutely deserves your attention - even if only one time.
This French zombie film revolves around a viral outbreak which drives the infected feral, bouncing from one character to the next as the mayhem continues to ramp up.
The big rub here is that writer-director David Moreau shot the entire 89-minute film in a single, unbroken take, with no sneaky digital tricks - indeed, Moreau did it for real.
Considering that MadS isn't some single-location affair and has some rather ambitious location shifts, it's a genuinely mind-boggling achievement.
But the sheer intensity of Moreau's film, jittery handheld camerawork and all, is genuinely exhausting, enough that few will likely go back for seconds considering how drained you'll probably feel by the time it's all over.
If it's this tiring to watch, just imagine how tough it was for the cast and crew to shoot in a single take.
