20 Behind-The-Scenes Facts From The Hunger Games
13. The Katniss Hair Isn’t Real?
A natural blonde, Jennifer Lawrence had to dye her hair the signature Katniss-brunette colour for the first two movies.
Notice how I said “first two”? That’s right — for Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2, Lawrence had adopted a short, stylish pixie cut in real life. As such, laced wigs were brought in to replace the hair for the Girl on Fire, and the film’s stylists were terrified it wouldn’t go down too well. Luckily, it did.
For the first two movies, the iconic braid was Lawrence’s real hair — heavily-styled, but real. Any time her hair was worn down, however, is a different story. Three sets of clip-in extensions had to be used for any scenes with loose locks, to create that full and wavy style we all know and love.
