20 Behind-The-Scenes Shots That Make Films Look Stupid

Stanley Kubrick's grand, operatic adaptation of Arthur C Clarke's best-selling science fiction novel pioneered a lot of special effects that were years ahead of their time. So much so that it inspired a whole conspiracy theory suggesting Kubrick was involved in faking the Apollo 11 Moon landings, so "accurate" his space scenes looked to audiences at the time. Those scenes still old up today, too, the use of painstaking practical effects never dating in the way that old computer graphics do. What was a lot less impressive was the opening twenty minutes or so, where a load of guys in cheap monkey outfits leap around and make unconvincing ook noises. Allow your sense of disbelief by ruined further by seeing one of them having a fag break.
