20 Behind-The-Scenes Shots That Make Films Look Stupid

13. Winching Up RoboCop

Similarly to the trajectory of the modern Planet Of The Apes remakes versus the originals, the recent do-over of the first RoboCop film utilised a lot of CGI, compared to the mostly-practical original. Director Paul Verhoeven is quite a stickler for the practical effects from the various prosthetic Arnold Schwarzenegger heads used in Total Recall to Sharon Stone's vagina in Basic Instinct. A lot of the time that lead to some special effects which still hold up, even decades later. That's certainly the case a lot of the time with RoboCop, although it's probably helped that Officer Alex Murphy didn't have to move with much grace after he got all cyborg'd up. When he did, it looked impressive - and it looks really embarrassing when you realise he was on a see-saw lifted by ten men.
