20 Best Female Characters In Comic Book Movies - Ranked

3. Judge Cassandra Anderson

Comic Book Females
Warner Bros.

The good Judge Dredd film. Psi Judge Cassandra Anderson - who has been knocking about since the earlier days of 2000AD - takes a demotion in Dredd, the film depicting her as a rookie Judge out on an assessment day with the stony-faced one. Trapped in a shut-down block full of heavily armed creeps, Dredd and Anderson face a tough fight to stay alive - yes, like The Raid, except in Mega City One.

Dredd's name is in the title, but Anderson is the audience identification figure and perhaps even more of a lead than Joe himself. While this Anderson lacks the smart mouth of her comic book counterpart (well, it is still early days) she passes the test with flying colours, standing up to the vicious snarl of scary Ma-Ma (an excellent Lena Headey) and rapey leer of her lieutenants. Terrifying the information out of a suspect through her psychic powers and brutally escaping captivity (with the help of a booby-trapped Lawgiver) Anderson proves herself made of tough enough stuff to win even stern old Dredd's approval.

Now, how about that sequel?
