13. Jakob's Wife
Much as the vampire genre may feel completely exhausted, even drained of life these days, creative entries can still find wiggle room to deliver something meaningfully new, and that Jakob's Wife certainly did.
Aided by the inspired casting of genre legend Barbara Crampton as the titular wife of small-town pastor Jakob (himself played by fellow horror vet Larry Fessenden), filmmaker Travis Stevens gamely juxtaposes a mid-life crisis and crumbling marriage with vampirism to highly amusing effect.
It doesn't ever take itself too seriously, yet that does nothing to diminish its well-rounded thematics. This is the Crampton show at the end of the day, though, and adorned by some wonderfully OTT gore effects, results in a gamy cult horror you'd be nuts to miss.
