12. Stun Gas Keychain (The Living Daylights)
In a tradition dating back to the Connery era, one of Timothy Dalton's first gadgets is neatly concealed as an innocent everyday object, in this case a keychain. Whistle the opening bars of Rule Brittania, however, and the keychain emits a cloud of stun gas capable of incapacitating an enemy for around thirty seconds. Handily, although perhaps somewhat lazily on the part of the film's writers, the keychain also opens 90% of the world's locks. Nice and convenient when Bond finds himself locked up in an Afghan prison. In a telling nod to what he really thinks of 007, Q also programmes the keychain's self-destruct mechanism to a wolf whistle.
