20 Best Movie Blu-Rays Of 2016
4. Highlander 30th Anniversary Edition
Clearly Highlander’s classic line ‘there can be only one’
means nothing to some people because a reboot, helmed by John Wick director
Chad Stahelski and reportedly featuring actor and former wrestler Dave Bautista
as The Kurgan, is currently in the works. If the thought of that fills you with
horror, then worry not: Lionsgate have released a 30th anniversary
Blu-ray edition of the original movie for us to feast our eyes on before the
reboot potentially destroys the legacy of Highlander.
While it might not offer any firm answers as to why on earth immortal swordsman Connor McLeod of the Clan McLeod, a Scotsman, has a distinctly European accent or why Sean Connery retains his thick Scottish brogue in the role of an Egyptian with a Spanish-sounding name, the Blu-ray does offer a tonne of extras for the Highlander fanatic. A 2007 four-part documentary on the making of the Highlander is included alongside new interviews with star Christopher Lambert and director Russell Mulcahy.
