Netflix might be a bit of a mixed bag with their expensive projects and they might also over-deliver on Christmas-themed animations in the hope of keeping young audience eyes on it for as much of the Holiday season as possible, but the platform pulled off a masterstroke this year with Klaus.

Ostensibly set up as a fish out of water story about a postman sent to an inhospitable area as punishment for his lax attitude to work, Klaus is actually a Santa Claus origin with the heart, charm and entertainment factor to guarantee it will become a festive staple.

Made by Despicable Me creator Sergio Pablos, the film proves there's still life and magic left in hand-drawn animation and also packs an emotional punch that just feels right at this time of year.
