9. The Irishman
There are very much two audience reactions for Netflix's sprawling next chapter in the Martin Scorsese gangster cinematic encyclopedia. For anyone who will hoover up anything the master film-maker does, it's a brilliant achievement in character-led story-telling and a 3 and a bit hour excuse to bask in his genius.
For the other side, it's too long, too self-indulgent and spoiled by awful CGI. Even taking into account those criticisms (they're not all long), it's still an absolutely towering achievement in film, telling a compelling story with great characters. And it's never a bad thing to be able to watch someone like Scorsese having fun with his cameras.
It wouldn't have been made without Netflix and it certainly wouldn't ever have run this long, so we should all bask in this opportunity while it's even still possible.
