15. Hit Man
Richard Linklater may seem like a strange pick for directing Hit Man, his typically laidback style and conversational storytelling a far cry from the witty, action-packed escapades he brings to Netflix's latest hit.
But in the end he proved a brilliant choice for the film, which follows a fake hitman (Glen Powell, in a true star-making performance) who's caught in a sexy, amusing and violent game of double crosses and uncertainty when he encounters a woman (Adria Arjona) hoping to have her abusive husband assassinated.
Equal parts romantic, hilarious and unexpectedly twisting, Hit Man finds both Linklater and Powell at the height of their powers, portraying the film's bonkers "true story" with a charm impossible to resist.
Proof that Powell is set for greatness and that Linklater is more than his earlier indie fare, Hit Man is so easily enjoyable and full of energy that, when the dust finally settles, you'll find the smile it's left on your face will take a long while to disappear.
