20 Best Movies Of 2024 (So Far)

What a year for horror. Between Abigail, Immaculate and Late Night with the Devil, the big screen has delivered a variety of scary thrills in the first half of 2024, and there are plenty more hits still to come. 

So far, the best horror flick we've been hit with has to be The First Omen, a prequel to 1976's classic The Omen, which follows an embattled novitiate (Nell Tiger Free) thrust into a race to stop the rebirth of the Antichrist. 

Despite being the sixth instalment in the long-running Omen franchise, Arkasha Stevenson's vision is a creepily fresh one, full to bursting with genuine terror and nasty secrets that pack a major punch even for hardcore horror fans, especially during its apocalyptic final act. 

Proof that some horror films know how to bring the scares to life, The First Omen is a stunning feat of spooky worldbuilding and frantic filmmaking, and it adds a great new dimension to the classic original that gave it life.
