12. The Babysitter
A surprisingly solid effort from McG (Terminator Salvation), The Babysitter is a go-for-broke horror-comedy in which 12-year-old protagonist Cole (Judah Lewis) discovers that his beautiful babysitter Bee (Samara Weaving) isn't quite who he thought she was.
With a snappy 85-minute runtime, a script which boasts a sharp awareness of genre tropes, a strong ensemble cast, and lashings of gore, this is a loony good time which satisfyingly subverts expectations to boot.
It doesn't ever take itself one step too seriously, and also helped significantly boost the profile of lead Weaving, who has since fronted another terrifically entertaining horror-comedy, Ready or Not.
Better still, a sequel has already been shot, even if Weaving sadly isn't returning for it.
