Woody Harrelson and Kevin Costner playing former Texas Rangers tasked with hunting down Bonnie and Clyde? Sign absolutely everybody up!

In all seriousness, the premise of The Highwaymen is pure gold, with two incredible actors, a gritty crime story, and the director of The Blind Side, Saving Mr. Banks, and The Founder - John Lee Hancock - at the helm.

And the finished product is mostly able to deliver the goods. While 1967's Bonnie and Clyde remains the superior movie centred around this story, The Highwaymen works due to the unwavering chemistry between its two leads, some superb production design, and a satisfyingly bloody conclusion.

It's a bit slower than it should've been and it does start to sag towards the middle, but if you can power through to the third act, you won't be disappointed.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
