A fast-paced and eye-opening courtroom drama documenting the controversial trial of a group of anti-Vietnam protesters, The Trial of the Chicago 7 comes complete with a flawless ensemble cast and a timely premise.
There are numerous standouts in the film, though Mark Rylance's turn as the group's defence lawyer William Kunstler and Sacha Baron Cohen's award-worthy role as political activist Abbie Hoffman both deserve shout-outs. Eddie Redmayne, Frank Langella, John Carroll Lynch and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II also bring the fury in their own challenging roles.
