20 Best Performances In Horror Movies
15. Sid Haig - The Devil's Rejects (2005)
Clowns in horror films have always been scary, but never have they been as gleefully horrifying as Captain Spaulding, a nightmare-inducing murderer played to spine-tingling perfection by the late, great horror legend Sid Haig.
Haig had been acting in film for decades before securing the role of Spaulding in Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses, and though his debut was an undeniably stellar performance, he really one-upped himself in the sequel, The Devil's Rejects.
In the role, Haig is nothing short of a nightmare in face paint, threatening his way through the trio's latest deadly misadventures and roaring with laughter every step of the way. He switches between darkly funny and psychotic without pause, forcing uneasy laughs from the audience as they recoil in terror.
It's a performance that begs to be seen, and is guaranteed to cause some sleepless nights.
In other words, Haig nailed it.
