20 Best Performances In The Wizarding World Franchise

10. Kenneth Branagh - Gilderoy Lockheart

Harry Potter Voldemort
Warner Bros.

Sadly, Kenneth Branagh only played Gilderoy Lockhart in one film, which was Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, but he sure as hell delivered a killer performance.

It was a beautifully-done comedic turn that was annoying in the best possible way, and Branagh was so good he managed to make this vain, insufferable and narcissistic fraud a very entertaining character to watch. In spite of how awful Lockhart was, it was hard not to love him.

Lockhart was a very good character in the books as well, and Branagh translated him to the screen flawlessly. Speaking of the books, Gilderoy Lockhart's role in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was omitted from the films, which felt like a wasted opportunity. It would've been wonderful to see Branagh back in action as Lockhart.
