20 Best Performances In The Wizarding World Franchise

11. Jim Broadbent - Horace Slughorn

Harry Potter Voldemort
Warner Bros.

Jim Broadbent is one of those supporting actors who completely stole the show. He really enriched Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the worst of the Harry Potter films, and gave a marvellous performance as Horace Slughorn. In fact, the film version of this character was arguably better than the one from the book.

As is often the case with Jim Broadbent, he was a very warm, funny and entertaining on-screen presence, but Broadbent also did a fantastic job on a dramatic level. His acting was filled with pathos and the scene in which he gave Harry a memory he was deeply ashamed of (Telling Voldemort what a Horcrux is) was beautifully acted by Broadbent.

This was a sublime performance and the only downside is that Broadbent barely appeared in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, which felt like quite a waste.
