20 Best Sci-Fi Films Of The 21st Century
14. Wall-E
Baby Yoda ain't got nothing on WALL-E, yeah we said it! Pixar seem able to take their hand to absolutely anything and turn it to gold (we don't talk about Cars 2).
WALL-E is so much more than a cutesy animated film though. Throughout WALL-E, the audience are confronted with what may very well become a harsh reality for us as a species if we continue down the path we're currently on. Pixar don't shy away from providing a number of uncomfortable truths for us, without ever running the risk of becoming preachy either.
It is, of course, a beautiful film as well. Even the wasteland that WALL-E calls his home is oddly beautiful, but this is in part due to WALL-E's attitude that it is not, in fact, a wasteland, but to him a gigantic treasure trove of beauty that he cherishes. Like any Pixar film, there are a number of scenes that are, quite honestly, heart breaking and we're happy to admit made us tear up.
What makes WALL-E a cut above the rest, however, is the fact that Pixar manage to make WALL-E endlessly entertaining with little to no dialogue for the vast majority of the film.
