20 Biggest Blockbuster Movie Showdowns Of All Time
6. The Battle Of Chicago - Transformers: Dark Of The Moon (2011)
While the Transformers movies have been painfully lacking in such things as plot, dialogue, characterization and logic, they are at least guaranteed to deliver in the action department with Michael Bay behind the camera. With the addition of 3D, the director surprisingly reigns in his ADD-afflicted shooting style (a little, at least) to provide the biggest and best set-piece in the entire franchise, that sees the Decepticons lay waste to the city of Chicago, in what no doubt resulted in hefty civilian casualties. Unfolding over the entire third act of the movie, Bayhem is the order of the day as Chicago is turned into a war-zone for giant alien robots. Much improved over the incomprehensible and swinging robot balls climax of Revenge of the Fallen, the action is thankfully easier to follow this time around and the 3D results in some jaw-dropping moments; alien ships descend ominously into view, soldiers base-jump out of buildings, entire skyscrapers topple at 90 degree angles and Optimus Prime kicks some serious ass in a brilliant tracking shot that was teased in every trailer. Yes its incredibly loud and almost as stupid, but is sure is entertaining.
I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
