7. X-Men: The Last Stand
The first sign that this third instalment wouldn’t measure up to its predecessors came when Bryan Singer jumped ship to direct Superman Returns and the studio handed the reins to the director of Rush Hour 3.
For bad measure, they also handed scripting duties to the writer of XXX 2: The Next Level and increased Halle Berry’s role after the Oscar winner complained she wasn’t into bit parts.
The result is a pretty typical manufactured sequel: there’s lots of effects and explosions, but no real heart, and the story is for the birds.
