20 Creepy Movie Kids To Put You Off Parenting

12. Lillith - Case 39 (2009)

02.05.2013case 2 Social worker Emily Jenkins takes little Lilith into her home after her parents try to kill her in the oven. Obviously there was a reason behind such a violent act. Strange things begin to happen around Emily. Diego, a child under her care, shoots both of his parents after a phone call from Emily's house. Lilith orchestrates the suicide of her doctor as well. Emily rightly becomes fearful of Lilith. She visits Lilith's parents who say she is a demon that feeds on emotions and they were driven to kill her to save themselves. They tell Emily the only way to kill Lilith is when she is asleep. To thank her parents for imparting that information, Lilith contrives circumstances to kill both of them. Emily convinces Detective Barron that Lilith is evil. He loads up on guns to kill the brat but Lilith makes him imagine he is being attacked by dogs and he shoots himself. It is left to Emily to try and defeat the demon child. Can she muster the intestinal fortitude and necessary strength? Adequate performances from the cast in this evil film coming close on the heels of Orphan. It is a bit cliched about its creepy kid subject manner and it lifts certain ideas from better horror movies (the phone calls from One Missed Call, a ton of hornets from Candy Man, devil dogs from The Omen) but it is an easy movie to watch - not requiring much brain power. Given its subject matter, the ending could have been a lot more sinister but they plumped for a Renee Zellweger heroine finish. The little girl Lilith is definitely a kid you don't want to parent but the film could have packed more punch.

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
