20 Most Cringeworthy Moments In The New Star Trek Movies
10. Spock Channeling Data From Star Trek Into Darkness
Put this one in the minor cringe territory. It occurs early on in Star Trek Into Darkness, when Admiral Pike calls Kirk and Spock into his office to take them to task for breaking the Prime Directive. (Variations on this scene probably happened with different admirals all throughout the original series, come to think of it.) Spock tries to defend their actions, and the following exchange takes place: Pike: That's a technicality. Spock: I am Vulcan, sir. We embrace technicality. Pike: Are you giving me attitude, Spock? Spock: I am expressing multiple attitudes simultaneously. To which are you referring? Um. Is it just us, or does that sound more like a scene with Data than with Spock? As we said, it's a minor thing, but it's a minor thing that leads us to a cringe, albeit a minute one.
