The Ending After their relationship has become perilously rocky enduring affairs, failed careers and radically conflicting life choices the Wheelers have an argument which causes April (Kate Winslet) to storm out of the house. The next morning, April is found in the kitchen making breakfast as if the previous night had never happened. Keeping everything bottled up until Frank (Leonardo DiCaprio) makes his departure for work, April makes the fatal choice to perform a vacuum aspiration abortion on herself. A hysterical Frank tells himself in hospital "she did it to herself. Depressing Because We witness the perfect couple fall apart at the seams, made so much worse by how believable the chemistry is between DiCaprio and Winslet. They develop conflicting opinions over almost everything and eventually turn to others for affection. Due to the pair not being able to reach an agreement regarding Aprils pregnancy, she takes matters into her own ends and pays the ultimate price. Only then does her husband truly realise how troubled she was. A Silver Lining? The absence of the toxic marriage means Frank can bloom as a father.
