Should we have even expected more from this in the first place? Did we expect it to be worthwhile? To warrant a viewing? Though the odds were clearly stacked against this thing actually being any good, for some reason the world got collectively excited for the arrival of The Hangover sequel. In retrospect it seems silly, but given as to how much money it made, people were clearly desperate to get another dosage of insanity from the Wolf Pack. The most shocking thing about The Hangover: Part II comes in the way it doesn't even seem to care that it's a carbon copy of the first film. Not just in its premise, but in the actual story beats. The same things happen, with minor tweaks. How did the filmmakers trick themselves into thinking watching the same things happening again would be funny? So awful was this, then, that when the super awful third chapter made its way into theatres, we were all prepared for it: it couldn't disappoint us because we had zero expectations.
