20 Doctor Who Actors Who Have Been In Star Wars (& 2 Who Will Be)
18. Graham Ashley
In the Star Wars universe, Ashley played the doomed Y-Wing fighter pilot "Gold Five", more properly named Davish Krail. As any fan can attest, Gold Five is spectacularly blown to bits in the attack on the first Death Star in the first film, A New Hope. Ashley had already appeared in a couple of episodes of Doctor Who, though, as the Atlantean Overseer in the four-part Patrick Troughton serial The Underwater Menace. Despite the recent recovery of one episode, this story is still incomplete in the BBC archives and is yet to be released on DVD with animated reconstructions of the two junked episodes. Fortunately, some of Ashley's performance can be seen in the parts that remain. In the picture, Ashley is on the far right, talking to the Doctor's companion, Ben (another of the Doctor's travelling companions, Jamie, can be seen over Ashley's shoulder).
