4. Koba Commandeers A Tank - Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes
2011s Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes smashed all pre-release expectations and, even more shocking, its 2014 sequel, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes somehow managed to exceed its predecessor. It's smart, exciting, and visually brilliant, and one of the most impressive achievements you're likely to see this year. One of the most epic moments of the film features Koba, the evil ape (who actually isn't that evil when you think about it), as he leads his army of apes against an army of men. Along the way he stops to commandeer a tank. The slick camera moves puts the viewer in the point of view of the tank as it slowly turns 360 degrees and you see all manner of mayhem that's taking place. The shot reportedly took 1030 attempts before WETAs visual effects artists got it right, and considering the complexity of it, who could be surprised at that?
