20 Essential Movie Performances That Will Define 2015

12. Jason Segel - David Foster Wallace (The End Of The Tour)

Release Date: TBA The Movie: James Ponsoldt (Smashed, The Spectacular Now) directs this adaptation of David Lipsky's (Jesse Eisenberg) book Although of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself, which covers the five days he spent on the road with late author David Foster Wallace, discussing subjects such as literature, fame and depression. The Role: Segel plays Wallace, and has been earning rave reviews for his performance ever since the movie premiered at Sundance in January. More than an act of mere mimicry picking up on the author's most eccentric tics, Segel's work is said to amount to a fully-formed portrait of the man. Why It'll Define 2015: Everyone loves seeing an actor playing against type, and as one of Segel's rare forays into Serious Acting, it's sure to be one of the most memorable performances of the year. Will it pick up enough traction to land him in Oscar contention? Only time will tell...
