20 Essential Movie Performances That Will Define 2015

13. Christoph Waltz - Franz Oberhauser (Spectre)

Release Date: October 23 (UK), November 6 (US) The Movie: The twenty-fourth Bond film, with Sam Mendes returning to direct Daniel Craig's penultimate movie as the iconic spy, which sees Bond coming face to face with the shady crime syndicate known as SPECTRE. The Role: Christoph Waltz is playing the movie's villain, apparently known as Franz Oberhauser, though many quite rightly suspect that this is a rather transparent cover for the fact that Waltz's character is actually a new version of Bond's most prolific enemy, Ernst Stavro Blofeld. Expect constant denials until the movie releases, but there's plenty of evidence pointing towards it. Why It'll Define 2015: Because as anyone who's seen Waltz act knows, it seems like he was practically born to play a Bond villain, and even if the script isn't great, his unique vocal cadence will likely ensure another delicious villainous performance. He'll have a lot to compete with given how incredible Javier Bardem was in Skyfall, but if it works on paper, expect possibly the best interpretation of Blofeld to date.
