20 Feel Good Movies You Need To Watch Now

8. Emma (2020)

The most recent offering on this list, this film adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma is a vast improvement on the 1996 Douglas McGrath version for having a greater sense of elegance and sincerity. The film is fairly difficult to follow at the beginning as it is loaded with many different characters and relationships but it’s the type of viewing where even if you don’t fully connect to the story, you can still lose yourself in a look into the Georgian Era.

The story of Emma is a satire of social class and the pain of growing up. The titular character goes on a journey of finding love but doesn’t get it without a few missteps first. With its clever use of lighting effects and detailed costume/set design, every second of the film appears like a gorgeous pastel painting. The script is overflowing with delightful British comedy and the cameos from Bill Nighy and Miranda Hart don’t hurt the picture either.

You want a nice bit of distraction? Watch Emma.
