20 Great Films You Won't Believe Aren't On IMDb's Top 250

13. Drive

Toy Story 2
Film District

Rating: 7.8

This one's exclusion is very surprising. It does have a reputation as a polarizing film, but it is generally very popular with both critics and the public and with good reason. Boasting gripping action, bone-crunching ultra-violence, stunning cinematography, nuanced visual metaphors, art-house vibes and Ryan Gosling looking dapper, it's no exaggeration to say this has something for everyone.

It's another flawless combo of style and substance. Boasting amazing visuals, a killer soundtrack and incredible set pieces this is a very enjoyable movie but there is a soul as well. It's full of nuanced, moving drama that's conveyed wordlessly through its meticulously constructed visuals, making this a very touching film as well as a ridiculously cool one.

Ryan Gosling also does a great job as the nameless, often silent hero, and this is possibly his single finest performance. Drive is an all-around modern classic and easily the best film released in 2011. It's also one of the most outrageous Oscar snubs of the 21st century and a Best Picture nomination should've been on the cards.
