16. Spring Breakers: Everytime

Spring Breakers is an incredible art-house drama and although it won't be to all tastes it's definitely worth a try, but be warned: you'll never look at Britney Spears the same way again.

Spring Breakers contains this unforgettable montage, sound-tracked to Spears' terrific but deeply sad hit 'Everytime', in which the drug dealer Alien (James Franco, in a shockingly good, trans-formative performance) and three female college students (Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson and Rachel Korrine) carry out various violent robberies.

A trippy, weird, wonderful, haunting and gorgeous bit of cinema, this is not only visually and aurally stunning but it's a remarkable way of hammering home the film's criticisms of a shallow, empty and violent society. Everytime is already a downbeat track, but when heard through this scene it becomes downright devastating.

Apparently, it wasn't actually very hard to get the rights for the song since everyone was so interested to see it being used in a scene like this. It's unlikely they imagined it would turn out quite this brilliantly though.
