20 Greatest Movie Moments Of The 2010s
12. Birdman: Flight
Birdman is another one of the decade's classic movies and every moment of it is brilliant; still, this unforgettable scene is the one which lingers the most.
In this sequence, fading blockbuster actor Riggan Thomson (Michael Keaton) who is trying to prove he's a 'serious' actor with a Broadway play is verbally abused by his alter-ego (Birdman, the superhero he used to play) and is encouraged to abandon his goals and go back to doing soulless commercial films.
This superbly-written monologue is given further lift when Riggan imagines an explosive action scene on the street around him and then himself flying through the streets of New York.
As it is, this is a very powerful yet also ridiculously entertaining way of exploring the themes of Riggan's personal dilemmas, but the film's stunning one-take cinematography take this to a whole new level of genius. You'll have to pick your jaws off the floor for this one... and maybe wipe away some tears too.
