Appears in: Independence Day The ships in Independence Day look much more like conventional flying saucers. However they are on a truly awesome scale. Each measures in the region of 15 miles in diameter and about a mile high. They can almost instantly destroy entire cities with their powerful laser weapons and can withstand immense amounts of damage, including nuclear weapons, through the use of their shield. This makes them perfect spacecraft for invading a planet. They do have a major design flaw though as a simple computer virus was able to take down all of their shields leaving them vulnerable to attack. Should have installed some anti-virus software.
13. Skyline Ships
Appears in: Skyline The film might have been critically panned but it might be worth watching just to get a look at the alien spaceships that are invading Earth. They are impressive spectacles in their own right, and incite terror. Nobody is going to think anyone turning up in one of these is going to be friendly, and that must be useful for intimidating your enemies. The horrifying things about the ships from Skyline though are their ability to abduct thousands of humans through an advanced vacuum into the belly of the ship.
