20 Horror Movie Characters Everyone Underestimated
19. Tommy Jarvis - Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter
Even more so than sweet mothers, children are frequently underestimated in horror films - admittedly with good reason, given that they're so often imperilled targets and little else.
And in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, the same seemed to be true of young Tommy Jarvis (Corey Feldman) - a scrawny 12-year-old horror nerd and all-around likeable weirdo who nevertheless didn't seem like much of a threat to the hulking, machete-wielding Jason Voorhees (Ted White).
Yet in the film's climax it's Tommy who actually kills Jason, landing a debilitating machete blow on his head and then continuing to hack away at him until he's categorically no more.
While Jason was resurrected in the sixth Friday the 13th - after sitting out the fifth film, where a Jason copycat filled in - he effectively spends the rest of the franchise as an undead zombie, so Tommy's achievement still stands.
That this unassuming lad managed to take down one of the most fearsome killers in horror history is something just about nobody ever saw coming.
