20 Horror Movie Characters Everyone Underestimated

Michael Dougherty's much loved horror anthology Trick 'r Treat did a masterful job of making us all think that the young, naive out-of-towner Laurie (Anna Paquin) was going to be just another victim of serial killer Steven Wilkins (Dylan Baker).

Hell, Laurie even wears a Little Red Riding Hood Halloween costume to really hammer the point home, but alas, it was all a brilliant lampoon on Dougherty's part.

And even if you figured that Laurie would probably find a way to turn the tables on her attacker, just about nobody saw this coming.

Ultimately Laurie is revealed to be part of a pack of werewolves, and the entire time she's actually been on the lookout for her first victim - namely someone who actually deserves it.

And so, Wilkins was the perfect candidate to be rabidly devoured by Laurie, who clearly takes great delight in tearing him apart - an outcome that seemed inconceivable at the outset.
