5. Tyler Perry (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Half-Shell)
The Role: Baxter Stockman, a scientist who, in previous Turtle lore, creates machines called Mousers, which can destroy sewer rats, causing him to get hired by Shredder to help bring the heroes down. Why It's Unexpected: Because Perry is, of course, best known for getting in drag and playing his own iconic creation, Madea, and directing a number of terrible "comedies" cynically geared towards black audiences. His filmography doesn't really suggest this to be the next natural step in his career. Will It Work?: Who knows? Perry is clearly an actor who lives and dies by his scripts: his own, for instance, are usually awful, but he was one of the best things in David Fincher's Gone Girl last year. Even so, one hardly expects Turtles to have a cracking script, so best to keep expectations in the middle for this one.
Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes).
