An entirely fresh look at the Gangster life style from a much more impoverished stance, City of God charts the hard and harsh times of growing up in the Favela slums of Brazil. It follows two men from boyhood, to teen and through to adult. One gets on the wrong side of things with drugs and gangs, while the other becomes a photographer. Important and meaningful work that is up there with the best. Iconic Moment: The films main hero Rocket find himself in the most awkward position possible at the beginning of the film, creating a metaphor for what his life could have been. After chasing down a chicken, drug dealers finally come to an impasse with Rocket as the chicken is all that stands between them. The film freezes as we are whisked back to the beginning of manhood; where choices that are made in this impoverished world stick for life.
