20 Idiotic Decisions Made By Characters In The X-Men Franchise

19. Mystique's Plan To Make Rogue Leave Is Far More Convoluted Than Necessary - X-Men

In order to lure Rogue away from Professor X and the other X-Men at the prestigious X-Men Academy, Mystique invades the campus, transforms into Bobby "Iceman" Drake (who Rogue has a "thing" for) and proceeds to make the already anxious mutant really sad by telling her that she doesn't "fit in" with anyone.

The plan, courtesy of Magneto, consists of "making her feel super bad," which - in turn - will cause her to flee and he can nab her for use in his evil scheme. The plan works, of course, because this is a movie; Rogue exits stage left and Magneto tracks her down on a train.

But why did Magneto and Mystique go ahead with such an overtly complex plan in the first place? Surely it would have been a whole lot easier if Mystique had turned into somebody who Rogue trusted (like Wolverine) and had said: "Hey, Rogue: come and look at this." Then she could have led Rogue astray (into the woods or whatever) and Magneto could have kidnapped her straight off. All the other stuff was just a waste of time.
