20 Most Important Comic Book Movie Performances

18. Chloe Moretz (Hit-Girl) - Kick-Ass

Easily one of the most controversial performances in comic book movie history, Chloe Mortez is undeniably fantastic as ankle-biting superhero Hit-Girl, though having an 11-year-old actress performing profanity-laced tirades and ripping men to pieces soon enough caught the attention of the right-wing press, who weren't impressed at all. The most infamous moment occurs just prior to a fight scene, as Hit-Girl tells her enemies, "Okay you c***s, let's see what you can do now," no doubt a shocking moment but one that's also hilarious precisely because of that fact. Audiences had never seen anything like it: for one, we weren't used to swearing and graphic violence in many comic book movies, but moreover, seeing a child performing these actions was mind-blowing, and owing to the movie's tone, pretty damn funny as well. People may object to the material, but Moretz's performance itself is undeniably flawless: to get so much sizzle out of such a young performer is a true testament to Matthew Vaughn's stature as an actor's director.
