One of the shooting locations for The Man With The Golden Gun was Thailand's Khao Phing Kan island, which doubled as Scaramanga's home base. And since 1974, when Golden Gun was released, Khao Phing Kan has appeared in tourist guides under the nickname James Bond Island. Even locals refer to it as such now. With a good deal of Brosnan Bond movie Tomorrow Never Dies taking place in the South China Sea, producers decided to take another brief trip to James Bond Island for part of the shoot. It can be seen in the background as Bond and Michelle Yeoh's Wai-Lin search for Carver's stealth boat.
