20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About James Bond

2. Liam Neeson, Hugh Jackman, And Henry Cavill Could Have Been Bond

While Bond fans are (mostly) happy with the Bonds that have been, it's interesting to consider the Bonds That Got Away. A few are very strange (Dick Van Dyke and Robbie Williams were both at one time considered for the role) but it would have been intriguing to see Bond played by some of the actors that either lost out or said no to the double 0. One is Liam Neeson, who was offered the role back in 1994 but turned it down as he didn't want to do action films (nowadays, it would seem Neeson's changed his mind). Another is Wolverine himself, Hugh Jackman, who could have landed the role in Casino Royale but apparently didn't like the direction the film was going in. Other superheroes such as Henry Cavill (Superman) and Adam West (Batman) have also been considered in the past. Paul McGann also auditioned for Bond in the 90s and really impressed the producers. The story goes that MGM, however, wanted a famous name, so Brosnan was chosen in his place, though it is thought that McGann was the number two choice if Brosnan couldn't do it. McGann, of course, went on to play that other British face-changing hero, the Doctor.
