20 Moments That Will Define Upcoming DC Movies

11. Will Smith Leads His First Proper Comic Book Movie (Suicide Squad)

The Moment: Though Will Smith has already acted in one comic book movie series (Men in Black) and played a superhero (Hancock), this is the first time he'll be joining a fully-fledged comic book movie from either DC or Marvel. While part of an ensemble, it's believed that his Deadshot character will likely play the leader of the Suicide Squad, as he did in many comic versions of the story. When It Will Happen: The whole of the movie, of course (though The Joker will inevitably steal most scenes he's in), so next August! Why It Will Define The Movie: Will Smith's a fantastic actor who has been out in the Hollywood wilderness for the last few years, and this should bring him back into the warm clutches of box office success and (hopefully) critical acclaim. Comic book movies are huge now, and even the relatively sequel-averse Smith can't ignore that, as it's likely his presence will be felt in a bunch of future movies if Suicide Squad lives up to its potential. With his enormous charisma much like Dwayne Johnson's, he's custom-built to play a pivotal character in a superhero movie. He'll probably do great and reinvigorate his career in the process.
