20 Most Critically Adored Films Of 2015

5. Spotlight

Rotten Tomatoes: 98% From 172 Reviews It's a great tragedy of being British that we won't get to see the adored Spotlight until the end of January, but there does have to be some advantage to living in America sometimes. Still, at least we know it's going to be worth the wait, if the American reviews are anything to go by. Praised widely for it perfect procedure, it seems to be a case of provocatively slow approach to a viscerally affecting revelation. No wonder it's being likened so generously to All The President's Men. Like that film it's not hampered by the fact that the audience knows the outcome, because it's all about the journey to the truth, throwing a spotlight as much on the journalists and their practices as it does on the central church scandal. Definitely one to get excited about. Sample Review:
"Your skin's left prickling by its deft deconstruction of the business of secret-keeping, and its perceptive setting out of the courage and diligence it takes to overturn it." - Robbie Collin, Daily Telegraph
