20 Most Critically Adored Films Of 2015

16. Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation

Rotten Tomatoes: 92% From 251 Reviews Five films in, you could forgive everyone involved in the Mission Impossible franchise for not really caring anymore. They've worked out the perfect formula (charisma + a simple espionage story + bonkers action sequences = money) and they could sleepwalk their way to a few hundred million dollars. To their credit the film-makers still appear to be trying their damnedest to impress - certainly with the stunts. And while Jeremy Renner is Hawkeyed to the sidelines and there are some wild leaps of logic (or plot-holes in other words), Rogue Nation was satisfying and entertaining without ever over-reaching to impress. It could have done with a slightly better role for the villain though, and 92% is a little generous considering the shortcomings. Sample Review:
"Five movies in, Cruise has perfected the M:I formula -- a simple spy story, passable character comedy, and extremely long, impressively sustained action sequences." - JR Jones, Chicago Reader
