10. Demonic (2014)
Demonic is an American horror produced by genre favourite James Wan and directed by Brotherhood director Will Canon. Essentially a haunted house horror from the perspective of the cops. Following The Conjuring, one certainly hopes Wan can guide Canon to success here. The film starts with the brutal massacre of five students in an abandoned house. As detective Mark Lewis (Frank Grillo) and psychologist Dr Elizabeth Klein (Maria Bello) question one of the survivors, it turns out the students were amateur ghost hunters who believed the house to the haunted and, as Lewis and Klein discover, the horrors in the house are certainly violent and demonic. This seems like an old school, violent haunted horror and early reviews have been good. This will probably be a minor genre hit but, with a Tom Savini cameo, its roots can be traced back to the seventies horror houses of yore.
