9. Cell (2015)

Cell is based on Stephen Kings best-selling 2006 novel. King meant it as a homage to his close friend George A. Romeros zombie films, and this has spent several years in pre-production. Now, John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson have taken key parts in this long-awaited adaptation. The film follows John Cusacks Clay Riddell as he battles to find his son after a strange mobile signal is transmitted which turns people into crazed maniacs. Riddell joins a group who must find a way to stop the phoners from taking over the world. Its good to see 1408 co-stars Cusack and Jackson back together again and the screenplay is co-written by King and Adam Alleca (Last House On The Left) with direction coming from Paranormal Activity 2s Tod Williams. It will be interesting to see though, after so many zombie films recently and The Walking Dead, if audiences will come to see a zombie film focussing on a mismatched group of survivors.
