20 Most Anticipated Horror Films Right Now

4. The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist (2015)

The first Conjuring film was one of the biggest horror hits of recent years. Although not for all genre fans, it was a strongly acted jump shock horror perfect for a summer audience. To that end, a sequel was inevitable. Not too much is known right now, including if James Wan will return once post-production duties are complete on the final Fast & Furious movie, but expect this to be a 2015 hit. Little is known of the story too but it focuses again on Ed and Lorraine Warren (a returning Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) as they, well, investigate a poltergeist in Enfield. The actual case in England in the late seventies focussed on a London council house as the children were said to be terrorised by a poltergeist. It was a widely reported story in the mainstream press and both Ed Warren and photographer Graham Morris have always claimed the events were real, even though it was probably completely fabricated. If the film does make a trip across the Atlantic, it will be interesting to see a seventies set British horror with a US budget. The return of the two stars adds quality and, if they can lockdown James Wan, we can expect a huge Halloween hit when it is eventually released next year.
