12. Pyramid (2014)
This Egyptian set horror is due for release in December and has all the hallmarks of a tense, dark, shock-filled ride into the ghostly catacombs below. Produced by genre stalwart Alexandre Aja and starring, amongst others, The Inbetweeners star James Buckley, initial word is good. A team of archaeologists discover a new pyramid. Nothing new there of course for a film like this only this one is beneath the desert and, on entering, the group get lost in the darkness. Unfortunately for them, something ancient and evil is hunting them down as they try to escape. It might not sound like the most original of horrors but it will no doubt have a good amount of tension and jump shocks and, if nothing else, at the least the Egyptian setting will feel a little fresh compared to the amount of haunted house horrors that have been released recently.
